MD licensure

Medical doctors renew in two groups

Group 1: License expires at midnight Eastern Time on 31 January of each even year.
Group 2: License expires at midnight Eastern Time on 31 January of each odd year.
Newly licensed: Physicians initially licensed within the biennium are exempt from the CME requirements for renewal, except two hours of Prevention of Medical Errors and one hour of HIV/AIDS.

DO licensure

Expiry: All osteopathic (DO) licenses expire on 31 March of every even-numbered year.
